The Importance of Trust

One of the ways to develop dialogue about the future is through the use of Knowledge Cafes. One of the most prolific writers in this area is Gurteen. His site contains a wealth of information and resources to help you get started in this area.

Recently a conference KM Australia explored the whole idea of Knowledge Management in more depth. I wish I had been able to go to the conference...but maybe next year. One of the discussions there was regarding the whole notion of Trust. Following the conference the main Trust Creating Behaviours were explored. This has no surprises but it links in well with the work of Stephen Covey "The Speed of Change" and Kouzes & Posner's "Credibility." A key idea is doing what you say you will, being honest and giving credit where credit is due. This is what credibility is all about!

One of the tools used for voting was a "Dotmocracy", which I found a very useful idea. It is a facilitation tool that I will explore in more depth.

The Anecdote website was the initial source of this information. This Australian Company uses business narratives to build leadership and change. I am bookmarking their site to go back to as they seem to have lots of great ideas to ponder.

I think the dotmacracy could be a useful tool for community consultation.

I agree - such a wonderfully visual and interactive way to capture ideas and beliefs. Great!
